Might I add, I see the bit getting caught near the target zone as very positive. It signals broken ground possibly at the margin of the sediments and basement. That margin tends to move under tectonic stress plus the hot plutonic intrusion should break thru it into the sediments.

That’s why the daughter hole is only 10m from the first one, to hit the same target now with care not to bog again.

And you alluded to another important consideration aka magnetic or non magnetic. The density or mass is one thing, the magnetic sand resistivity is another. If the intrusive pluton is solid then it’s original magnetic iron signature is intact. If it’s busted up with fractures and somehow oxidised the. It loses its magnetism.

Very common to see in deep intrusives to have both targets. Now, which one might be mineralised?
