One hopes this doesn't become an excuse to cut the dividend. The market seems to not believe the dividend is sustainable it seems.
Yet WAM keeps proving the market wrong and managing to pay the 0.775c + fully franked per half yr. The profit reserves drop to a low but then the team seem to manage to creep it back up.
I'd presume GW is highly focused on keeping WAM paying that minimum level for fear of mass retail shareholder walkout - especially seeing there would be a high level of cross product ownership by investors. I wonder how many of his grey hair retail shareholders don't even look at the share price. They see a regular 6 monthly dividend stream show up in their bank accounts. Then come tax time they get a franking refund on top.
His retail crowd are busy living a retirement lifestyle. Heaven help the day that divi declines and is unexplainable i.e a major catastrophic event such as Aliens landing and pulling out the cook book "To Serve Man".
