Don’t take too much notice of PH, he appears to have little understanding of LIC’s.
The profit reserve is a genuine reserve in that it represents past profits that have not been distributed. Because many of the Wilson funds have large reserves they will usually be better invested in shares rather than cash. However, if there is insufficient cash reserve to pay the dividend, of course assets will need to be sold - that is a matter of prudent asset management.
