despite all of the techo data im getting which says QAN is doomed short term, the fact of the matter is QAN is a great company which recently announced a profit upgrade and is continuing to grow. see the following for eg;

Qantas confirmed that its executives have been in New Zealand, with politicians in NZ speculating it was part of talks to sell some of Air New Zealand to the Australians.
National Party leader Bill English said a group of Qantas executives led by the general manager of airline strategy and network, Paul Edwards, spent time in the offices of law firm Bell Gully last week.
English said it was becoming increasingly obvious that "plans are afoot" for Qantas to take a stake in Air NZ after the election.
"If they were not doing due diligence, what were they doing?" English said.
Qantas spokesman Michael Sharp said it was no secret that the two airlines were in talks. However he could not say what the meeting at Bell Gully was about.
