There's no doubting the potential and the support from Govt and the wider political environment.
The issue is China doesn't want to let go.
Northvolt is a classic example. Factory partnership with Volvo (now majority Chinese owned) had the rug pulled by Volvo resulting in Northvolt in Chapter 11. It now seems that Volvo wants to step in to buy them, which would put Europes biggest emerging battery maker into Chinese control.
May not happen but they play the long game.
