given how much federal dollars have gone into the exploring for the future program, if they found a copper penny in the hole, the relevant minister would want to take credit for the copper discovery.
then the NT mob would want their pound of flesh on top of the federal mob.
if the discovery was good enough, and I'm not saying it is, the prime minister would likely want to announce it.
if you think otherwise, you don't understand politics.
