Easier to make the decision to liquidate a position when it's not your own capital (or a very small amount if they have their own $ in the fund). They have already suffered the hit to their performance, so the decision to clear the decks is relatively easy. Saves them having to continue to justify to themselves and the other portfolio manager's in the team why they need to maintain the position.

What is of interest is who is on the buy side soaking up much of the stock coming out? No telling what their intentions are. Hopefully not in it for a quick pip, because if that's the case the stock churn through the 1c - 2c mark is going to be painful.
