It appears to me that Express Scripts (ES) and others are not much more than the Uber eats of the pharmacy world. ES for example directs its customers towards generic drugs and squeezes the pharmacist for the lowest cost and doesn’t necessarily pass the saving to the customer. Most of these ‘pharmacy benefit managers’ are owned by large health/insurance companies. ES is owned by Cigna.
I see MDR as far more than just an ‘Uber pharmacy’. MDR does provide a service and has many associations with big pharma who provide product info, correct usage and updates amongst other benefits. MDR is more of a community in my view. Telehealth is another service.
Is MDR offering too much bang for a buck? Time will tell. The platform is fantastic and I think the white label offering offers a fantastic opportunity.
Happy to hear other opinions.
All the best.
