so on an open forum many of us pointed out how unusual it was that there had been no announcements for months upon months and this suggested to us that pfizer was manipulating announcements to the market to keep the share price low. one reason to keep the share price low is to buy rap more cheaply. this is obvious but given pfizer can buy rap with the small change in its back pocket it is probably not the real reason. the real reason to keep the share price low is to be able to justify to the supreme court and an independent reviewer that it is offering fair and reasonable value and not have the merger deal struck down.
so why the spate of announcements. well the first one was beyond pfizer's ability to control the timing, that being the issuing of a patent buy the Australian patent board. once that announcement was made then they rush out the next announcement which they do have control over the timing of thanks to pfizer's connections that being FDA approval for sleep check and the third announcement again they have control of the timing that being an announcement on the extension of a licencing agreement with medgate.
I am wondering if they bunched these announcements knowing that there merger offer of 14.7 cents caps the price because no-one is prepared to pay more in case a yes vote go through and they get their fingers burned.
how does this benefit pfizer attempt to merge rap? well if they have to they can argue that it doesn't matter what rap does the immovability of the share price proves that $0.14 must be a fair and reasonable offer in the eyes of the share market and they can take that arguement to a court of law.
