The Terra Dura brake incorporates a glass filled polymer (likely Nylon), which is an insulator, meaning it retains heat. No other brake manufacturer in the world encloses a caliper brake for good reason, brake rotors are designed to give off heat and were a vast improvement over the enclosed drum brakes used many years ago. Linfox did test the trailer brake but with the saving ABT is reporting, can't believe Linfox has not outfitted their entire fleet. SA regulations have been in effect since 2015 however the mines departments have not mandated it as a requirement, most mining company do not want or need failsafe brakes. Blue chip companies, like BHPB have been using SIBS brakes for a long time as they find the failsafe function key to safety. The distributors are a real question. Most of them do not even show the ABT or SIBS brakes as an offering on their websites. ABT never mentions a competitor. Check out www.auscoproducts.com. Ausco offers a much improved enclosed brake design for the Landcruiser. ABT also did not mention their international sales director left the company as of July 1.
