Mere cash balance without other major P&L plus balance sheet line items will make it quite irrelevant disclosure. So in the end will still be like drawing up a regular quarterly reporting.
It is not a difficult job, but still a job and takes man hours to do so. Since they are not in breach of mandatory disclosure requirements, likely most companies will just do what that meets the minimum requirements instead of doing more than required. Yes, they can take the initiative, but then they might think it is not a major priority for the time being.
