?X GDO have undertaken two empowerment transactions, both at the asset level. Micawber
400 and Micawber 472, two BEE companies with broad based stakeholders, purchased
26% of the company‟s East Rand and Free State assets, respectively. The BEE
companies are required to pay (a market related price) for their 26% stake in the assets
over an extended period. GDO has agreed to lend the BEE parties funds for contribution to
the joint ventures for capital and operation costs ?V these loans will be repaid from profits.
