Too right Hr, and having worked in, managed and then sold into the largest datacentres & customers in Oz, I know they definitely care about how much a server or storage system etc costs to run & to cool.

To say "I simply pay for rack space" is grossly naive. What do they think makes up the pricing for that rack space?

Case in point, a entity many may have heard of - Google - were selecting processors for their server farms a while back. Google design their own servers for those farms btw, and power consumption was right up there on the processor test/selection criteria.

Anyone think they wouldn't be concerned about systems & storage memory power consumption too?
