Yes, you always add a slight buffer to cover transactional costs etc but that is a personal concern and based on how you invest and what kind of investor you are etc. But you are right, in the simplistic 500 in, 500 out example that is not accounted for.
It can actually get a whole lot more complex based on individual circumstances but my mind was just thinking 'lazy simple overview' answer lol
