I looked up the Well Completion Report for West Walker 1 which is an interesting read. Flowed 3 MMscfd on air drilling but when they went back to DST it it only flowed 400 Mscfd with signs of formation damage. After the 3 MMscfd flow they switched from air to overbalanced mud which probably explains the comment about using underbalanced drilling to try and get that 3 MMscfd back.

But the porosity in the Pacoota looks very low and the reports say they assume there was a fracture which is what flowed. That fits with what we know about the Amadeus in general and they would need to find a large, intersecting fracture network like in Palm Valley to get any real flow out of the structure.

They also recovered water on the DST which is not a good sign but it may just mean they drilled near the gas-water contact. That probably explains the comment about shooting modern seismic to map the structure properly.

There was also no sign of helium and only trace hydrogen on one DST. The bulk of the gas was a fairly wet natural gas.

All in all there are plenty worse places to drill, but the risk will be finding that fracture network.
