I don't have time to go back over the old WCRs so I'm not sure what testing was done but I'd say it was almost certainly just DSTs and nothing extended. Sometimes with tight reservoirs you can see depletion even within a single DST which would definitely be a bad sign, sometimes the reservoir stabilises during the DST but is just clearly a low flow rate.

The issue with these old wells is that they were usually drilled for oil as gas was nearly worthless in the 60s, especially somewhere as remote as this. So if they ran a DST and it flowed low rate gas they often didn't bother to follow it up at all. No point wasting time on EPTs or anything.

So while it's a good sign that they got some flow it does need to be proven to be capable of stabilised flow over a few months before you start to consider building a helium plant over the top of it - even if that flow is 6% helium.

The question of whether the quartzite could be fracced is hard to answer as it depends on stress regime, depth, rock properties, pore pressure etc. In theory it could if conditions are right but I think the best bet is drilling a horizontal well and hoping you hit enough nature fractures to flow.

Worth chasing anyway, if only somebody would stump up the cash to drill the well.
