For what it's worth Repsol have recently move their strategy from oil to gas in respect of their Alaskan interests.

The reason for Repsol's interest is that Spain is changing it's gas supply infrastructure from LPG bottle gas, to a mains supply gas to the country and therefore needs a cheap supply of gas initially in the form of LPG enabling easily transport to Spain. It will then logically follow that eventually they can easily convert this infrastructure in Spain to an hydrogen supply.
it's not rocket science why they are doing this.
throw into the mix and ask yourself why why is perhaps the largest manufacturer if domestic central heating boilers has already spent millions on on research, development and tooling, which is already sitting in place to bring hydrogen powered boilers to the world markets.
when the time is right for such action.
major players do they they own research ignoring politicians this indicates to me that said company realises the way forward if this is true then Oil and gas exploration will be at the forefront for years to come.
logically this company when looking at the UK realise that electric cars etc maybe the future but unfortunately the infrastructure is not in place to accommodate charging all these vehicles and moving electricity as their energy supply.
The scientist now estimate Greater Britain would need a further 15 power stations, nuclear is the future and how long does it take to build one?
so therefore let's get real, oil and gas still as a long future!
