Think of self defence moves and long term discipline - this is why the 1 share per trade to try and drop the price beats you guys talking like this.
The BOT simply takes a a few days rest after an announcement that creates massive volume and then restarts once the haymaker volume has dropped off. As the volume and interest continue to drop off the 1 share trades working remorselessly all day long start to move the price down. The effect over a few weeks can be quite impressive.
Then they buy up at the much lower price. Often in the auction to hide this actual accumulation. The broker data some posters are supplying tell the truth of this.
Another way to check this lazily is to monitor the shareholder base numbers and top 20 holders. What's the bet that insto holdings are going up up up while retail holdings are going down down down? Thats the whole point of what you see.
Take advantage of this rather than whine about it.
