No question the FDA thinks it IS ethical and therefore possible...
Osiris for instance had promising results from their phase 2 trial and went ahead with TWO RCTs. Just because SI and his chosen chief investigator assert it's "not ethical" doesn't mean the rest of the medical and scientific community agree with that. Until it is proven to have effiacy, it would be entirely ethical and desirable to conduct an RCT.
MSB wouldn't still be trying to get approval if Remestemcel had already been proven to be efficacious, so SI is attempting to preempt examination of the evidence by declaring it unethical. He has good reasons to do so, but not necessarily based on the evidence from the trial.
