I have not seen anyone respond to him yet but I believe it is an extremely valid question/proposition.
I am sure you have read many posters say on this board that if Mesoblast were listed as a US company, the share price would already be multiples of where it is now. I fully agree. In fact, I have posted that myself in the past.
And before someone brings out the hatchet here shouting how dare I bring up this about an Australian company, let me request that this is not remotely anything about nationalism or patriotism. Please view this in its proper context - which is one of
BUSINESS. Nothing more.
Biotech companies in the US enjoy a very high valuation even before they have any FDA approved products. Even before they turn a single cent in profits. I can cite many examples. Seattle Genetics for one, which has not turned a single cent in profit but currently has a $30 billion valuation. Then you have CytoDyn, which trades as a penny stock on the US OTC and has a market cap
TWICE that of Mesoblast. I know, unfreaking real.
I can go on. But I am sure you too know of many such US companies that are miles behind Mesoblast in product development/pipeline but have bigger market caps.
Even now, while we are at the cusp of earth shattering news (COVID-19/ARDS news), there is hardly any coverage in the US on Mesoblast. The MESO institutional ownership is at a dismal 2.1% (

breakdown of insto ownership, which is not what I am looking for. It is the ownership
PERCENTAGE). It does not help that Mesoblast's US investor relations just blatantly ignores answering emails or phone calls. Anyway, I digress. So - why is the coverage here in the US simply not there?
And consider this: If you look at Mesoblast's management and the board, most of them reside in the US. I believe majority of the employees are US based. US FDA approval is what the company is after (not from Australian FDA, Singaporean FDA or others). All clinical trials are US based. NIH which is footing the ARDS trial bill is US based. So pray tell, what is the reason for the company to be listed as Australian? Sincere question.
I can tell you this: If the primary stock listing were to be on the NASDAQ, the share price would already be multiples of where it is now. Also, there would have been less shares outstanding since less shares would have been issued during capital raises.
I am not sure what can be done about this - perhaps raise this at the AGM for those of you who attend?

* My neighbor, who immigrated from New Zealand, and I occasionally talk about Mesoblast and he mentioned that Mesoblast will be getting a hat trick of treatments. Now I don't know much about cricket but I found this video of one of your very own, Peter Siddle, getting a hat trick, on his birthday of all days. Even though I don't understand the game much, I can see that this is an exciting game and is waaay better than the utterly boring baseball we have over here. By the way, my neighbor told me to tell all you folks in Australia that NZ kicks Australia's butt in rugby. Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I am just passing on the info.
I think here's an apt comparison - I can see every one of you (shareholders in Australia) in the stands from the 3:06 -3:10 mark - going crazy cheering Peter Siddle on - like we all are cheering for Mesoblast. The three wickets must feel like the FDA approvals: aGVHD/ARDS, CHF and CLBP.
How many of us will react like Peter Siddle at the 1:28 mark and the 3:34 mark when we get FDA approvals?
