The Arabs will not tolerate Iran interfering with their business. I was in Oman during the Gulf war, and believe you me, they support progress, not suppression. Those waters also belong to Oman. Oman will have the West and Saudi to support trade. I know, its not the same King HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said ruling anymore, but not much has changed when it comes to politics. They have been fighting this war quietly for many years. They have been actively fighting Yemen, well not the Yemen as many might think, but the Hoots that have been invading Yemen and trying to move into Oman. The Yemini people are very similar to the people who live in Salalah, mostly Balochi. Peace loving people. Yes, they are nomads from Iran, guess what they were running from.
This is so off topic! But, yes it can make a difference to the SP.

'The First Gulf War (1980–1988) is considered one of the longest and bloodiest wars globally in the 20th century, erupting ten years after Sultan Qaboos bin Said, may God bless his soul, assumed power in Oman. It marked the beginning of new foundations for the Omani foreign policy, which has always been distinguished and unique. This war was a true test for the Omani diplomacy, during which Sultan Qaboos demonstrated his political capabilities in dealing with one of the most turbulent situations that hit the Gulf region in that century. Despite the recency of his rule and the significant transformation Oman was undergoing under his leadership compared to its previous state, he managed to create a balance between the requirements of rebuilding his country and dealing with the surrounding regional circumstances.'
Yes he was there for the second one as well. Oman was a US base against Iraq.
