If they weren't impressed with the data, it's safe to say that they would've walked by now.
When you're in the midst of conducting heavy commercial negotiations terms with a potential partner, you don't want to show any cards that might reveal your hand, so as to weaken your position on the table, especially if there are other potential partners on the sidelines.
I reckon this is more likely the reason why he's dancing around the Novartis questions (understandably)
