MSC's are anti-inflammatories and immunomodulators. Amongst other things, they inhibit both T and B-cell responses (which is why, incidentally, they are good prospects for GvHD). So, there's as much logic to fighting coronavirus with MSC's as there is to fighting it with ibuprofen. Even MSB's press release said that remestemcel-L infusions "reduced inflammatory biomarkers". Where they may be useful is in mitigating lung damage - in particular, any fibrotic changes, and per the release, modulating immune response.
