No, what could happen is that this is used as a surrogate phase 2 trial for non-covid ARDS to design a trial that has a good chance of success. They can't retrospectively change the covid trial design to repower it.
Covid was not significant for profit compared to non-covid ARDS, so if you're an optimist then there's still some sunshine for the future, I don't think I would necessarily take that view. Personally I have a lot of questions about this that will be answered once there is more data available.
