Three things impact the REE Ionic Clay recovery rates, the Acidity/Alkalinity of the Aqua Regia(salt acid/base solution), Time in Solution and Temperature.
Desert Metals testing, which resulted in over 70% REE extraction was sitting in the solution for only 24 hours, compared to IXR's REEs at Makuutu, which were sitting in the Aqua Regia solution for 4 days (96hours).
The longer you leave it in the Aqua Regia, the higher the Rare Earth recoveries. It will be very interesting to see how high the REE recovery rates rise to at Innouendy, if Desert Metals allows the REEs to sit in the Aqua Regia (salt + weak acid) solution for 4 days (96hours) like IXR did, instead of only 24 hours with this preliminary test they completed...
While we wait for the assay results from Belele and the drill rigs to head back to Innouendy to drill into the paleochannels, second-stage metallurgical testing has been commissioned, using the data they acquired with this preliminary testing.
