If WPG had the grades to run through the mill using Challenger or Tarcoola ore then this JV would have an opportunity cost.

So, one could conclude (all assumptions mind you) that any of the below may be true

1. WPG dont have the grades to run through the mill and/or
2. There is some other form of benefit being derived through this deal - ie: cash/working capital etc.

Anything that improves WPG's cash position is good at this point in time so the deal is better than running low grade ore through the mill for a continued loss making position.

All hearsay and I could be wrong of course.
