no, that doesn't break guidelines, although shows why the delay has been so long - they were trying to show a link that is not backed by any science as yet.
It's not great business practice (implying a link or potential link to pump the price), and I'm glad the ASX has called them on it and asked for clarification - but it is within the rules to submit an announcement that is then checked and questioned by the ASX and then update said announcement to be more accurate prior to release to the market.
