I currently hold the closed fund, I guess by default due to rolling over from the MGG fund and also buying into the 7.5% offering I'm keen to stay with the fund but the closed class side really bugs me. Even though I'm in for the long term, I'm just against the principal of it, due to misalignment of incentives for fund managers. So would like to change over to the open class fund. Any thoughts on if the NAV discount % will narrow at any point? It seems the gap between the open and closed fund just continues to grow (about ~12% worse off in MGF since inception, from a cursury glance at the chart). I would kick myself if after swapping, the closed class fund plays 'catch up'. Alternatively I can just let MGF ride and direct future funds into MGOC.

You are asking the golden question, that no one can truly answer. Part of the large discount is down simply to the poor performance of Magellan funds lately. If they see a marked improvement in performance, the discount "should" decrease. Unfortunately, this is an ongoing issue for all closed funds.
