I think confidence has been evaporating for years now.

They were always the butt of jokes from other fund managers - "a super expensive ETF".

Retail investors largely ignored the constant disparaging remarks... until now.

I am not sure why Hamish chose to return. The man is a gazillionaire, and hardly needs to work another day in his life. Judging from recent pics, he has been feeling the effects, looking gaunt and frail.

The whole funds management industry is under pressure to improve performance and drop fees.

The current market conditions are the ultimate test for active managers. Lets see how they go.
