Market manipulation is illegal. Still happens all the time though, but as I said, CE is not stupid enough to risk it in this situation. Some loose lips would put the entire deal in jeopardy. As for why the difference, i think its as simple as few buyer into NWE, even fewer sellers. As i said, the option of buying NWE and then accepting the takeover was off the cards due to the settlement period. The rise in MIN SP I suspect is due to parts of the MIN business not associated with NWE / Gas. Given the TO has now been extended, I suspect that the prices will converge again. Saw it already today that they went up around the same %.
