Lindsay's performance hasn't looked good recently but he has over recent years set the company up for big potential if he can finally get this funding over the line. I think the pay rises were likely approved when it looked like everything was going to recent plans. Things took a turn with the unfortunate timing of the approaches the company had, that led to the suspension of trading.
It's easy for shareholders to lose confidence in the GA when the phosphate has seen so many delays but if a JV partner enters the picture and provides expertise and funding, the market sentiment can turn on a dime.

Thats a straw man arguement. I never said Lindsay shouldn't be paid. Only that his salary should be based on performance (broadly defined - achieving project milestones, securing finance, generating shareholder wealth).
