Great post @Next 10000. 100% agree and thank you for elaborating. Each country is moving inwards trying to manufacturer inhouse even if it means higher wages higher costs etc. I wish more took the initiative. You have to have the willingness to invest in your country.

    Take NZ for example.

We export a lot of pine trees. This gets made into furniture in China

. We then have to buy it back as a table, or a chair.

Look at what happened to A2 milk whose biggest market was China. Lockdowns and restrictions sent its share price to rock bottom.

We also gave up our only oil refinery and now only import oil that is already refined as we couldn't do it.

Australia on the other hand has the population, It has the metals, the minerals, and the royalties to GOVT which see Australia prosper. NZ who has a significant amount of GDP from tourism and immigration has sufferred a lot more from inflationary pressures.

Steel makers in Germany etc would greatly benefit manufacturing steel in South Australia like you say. As wages would be similar.

But i do feel we need more investment in hydrogen not just solar and wind. There was a lot of talk last year. But it seems it was mostly hot air as it has died off somewhat.

However, other areas other than storage for power supply have been applied. Mining companies in Australia are building solar plants and having an electric mining fleet trucking ore around.

There is a company in Sweden doing the right thing that is helping to pave the way for Hio, not that it needs it.

In the future Hio could have a mining fleet made from fossil fuel free steel.

Produce iron ore processed without the use of fossil fuel.

And have a company in the region producing steel products fossil fuel free.

This also opens up a whole new market of fossil free steel for automobiles as well as renewable energy sources, including fossil free manufactured wind turbines etc.
