Very simple - the mineralogical studies suggest the gold is derived from a hydrothermal primary source not just a supergene enrichment with no gold at depth. Of course with the silver it's always been considered to potentially be epithermal so the vein sets at surface may represent the fingers with the hand at depth. A long way to go to solve the puzzle but encouraging.
