with bauxite ore you are worried about % aluminium, % silica and of the silica specifically the % reactive silica.

you want higher % alumina (as for every ton of ore you process you get more aluminium) and low silica and particularly low reactive silica as silica is hard to separate from the alumnina and reactive silica even more so.
