To answer your question - if I bought a car in the full knowledge that it could be bought back if it decreased in value, then I wouldn't be surprised if the offer came and I'd probably take 5 minutes to sign and post it back. My bank details would be irrelevant. If I knew that I'd be away or had doubts about receiving the comms, I'd use my initiative to contact the relevant people to determine my options, especially if I had 6 weeks to figure out what to do.
