The update refers to "resuing the ore" when stoping
resuing can double the head grade in narrow vein mines by reducing dilution. It is expecially useful at Morning Star where you have very narrow but very high grade reef like Burns and Kenny. There are a few approaches to resue firing, one is where the waste rock is blasted first, taken out ( in this case to fill a void), and then the reef is blasted. This can be slow because you have two firing cycles. But when you are stoping a number of reefs at different levels can be efficient.
The other is where the blasting cycle is controlled to throw the reef ore further down the drive than the waste, so that there is a reasonable degree of seperation between the two. From other mines that have used this technique it can result in a doubling of gold head grade as a result of reduced dilution. Remember that some assays on Kenny where getting 20 ounces to the tonne
things are hotting up down that mine now.
