Exactly, this is for approval of a multi decade operation in the midst of an area that has been pillaged and not properly rehabbed in the past. Legacy mining has tarnished perception of mining and stakeholders needs to take proper care of correct process. Theres a heap of documentation needed to go up and down the chain before anything gets signed off IMO. Process is necessary and lengthy and should be appreciated that the government are most likely understaffed and over stretched especially during covid and post covid backlog. Its easy to assume theres a suspicious hold up when the mind wanders into conspiracy theories as we sit and refresh the daily SP and news feeds, but all in all the SA Government need to meticulously go through these procedures for their own sake, making sure its all above water and minimal backlash down the road.
