Hi All
was having a look at the foundries that use EUV lithography, which the latest announcement mentions -
The complex simulations resulted in a minimum requirement for QED feature sizes that would
be specifically compatible with existing standard industrial-foundry processes, including
Extreme Ultra Violet Photolithography.
TSMC (Taiwan) is way ahead with the number of EUV machines it uses, followed by Samsung Electronics. SK Hynix is another major Korean chip maker that has placed a large order for EUVs. Intel has been outsourcing chip manufacture to TSMC until very recently and has to play serious catch up. Each EUV machine (made by the Dutch ASML) is $150 million, which is nothing compared to the massive semi-conductor turnover. ASML sells to all except China. There's one other American manufacturer, Micron that's a small player. I don't see any European chip manufacturer listed as owning EUVs, and there might be the odd one used in research and prototyping. Will AXE go to the large foundries or niche players? TSMC and Samsung are using 7nm, 5nm and down to 3nm EUV processes already.
