I had responded to this previously but had been a number of months ago.

A NED doesn't work in the business they work on the business, they form part of the board and give recommendations for the team to execute on and hold the executive team accountable for the direction.

So for Cameron without knowing the inner workings of Mogul would be providing expertise on where and what they should be doing in terms of technology/platform development as this is his area of expertise (CPO of Canva). He wouldn't be sitting there coding the actual platform as his skill set far exceeds that (no offense to UI/UX designers) but you don't see the board of McDonalds flipping burgers.
