I used to be a diamond driller (Drilltech drilling rigs) back in the days - it can be very slow drilling, then drill string recovery for each section of core. But must be getting close with the time that has passed.
Normally the Geologist would be able to review the core and the company to provide feedback before assays are completed. If a company wanted to be careful, they would wait for the assays.
