I think the problem for a lot of folk is that they haven't understood what's been stated properly.
These trials aren't to cure cancer yet. They're to see if the dogs can safely ingest the drug over a period of time, if so, in what dosage?
Once it's been established what dosage is safest for the dogs (without damaging the liver, for example.) they'll work out how effective the drug is on cancer. it's not a question of, "does it have anti-cancer properties?" it does. It's a question of, "will the anti-cancer properties of the drug kill the cancer without pickling my dogs liver?"
That's why the phase III trials will have the stated purpose of 'can the drug be safely administered.' the same as the phase II trials did.
