MONTHLY: MEL: Meridian Energy monthly operating report for February 2016
Attached is Meridian Energy Limited's monthly operating report for the month
ended 29 February 2016.
Highlights this month include:
- In the month to 10 March 2016, national hydro storage increased from 90% to
102% of historical average
- South Island storage sat at 101% of average and North Island storage at
109% of average on 10 March 2016
- Meridian's February 2016 monthly inflows were 132% of historical average
- Meridian's Waitaki catchment storage increased from 93% to 98% of average
at the end of February 2016
- National electricity demand in February 2016 was 2.6% higher than the same
month last year
- This was driven by higher leap year working days with lower South Island
irrigation
- Meridian's retail sales volumes in February 2016 decreased by 7.5% compared
to February 2015, as a result of lower South Island irrigation and lower
corporate sales volumes
