I'm not certain in this area of the presence of these generally black carbonaceous, sulfidic sediments (slates - metamorphosed shales) but in other areas in the kalgoorlie-kambalda area they are common interflows within basalt and ultramafics. They light up like Christmas trees on geophysical surveys such as drill hole electromagnetic and moving loop EM and are often broad, stratigraphic units. Basically the implication is you can't be certain if an EM anomaly is due to these or to massive sulfides.
