It seems that Newcrest are taking the wisest option and investing big into greenfields exploration in it's own backyard. Who knows how incredibly awesome this might turn out for Newcrest... Havieron >10Moz plus another ??10Moz?? from greenfield success with AZY JV.
I'll take a stab in the dark that it'll cost possibly up to $1 billion & 4-6 years to get Havieron up running. Getting feed for Telfer from shallow ground is obviously more cost & time effective in the short term

Anyways, more industry and more jobs is good for everyone. More multi-$billion Gold deposits can't be bad for Australia
