anything that needs a consumer to download an application faces huge friction. In terms of all the others doing it, a quick google search just now produced names like Digimarc who are winning huge customers (different approach but seemingly a large customer base so it must be pretty good); VerifyMe from the US; Videojet with hidden UV codes; Kafrit; Reiner; Traco; NanoMatrix yada yada... That's only page one of google- although they say the second page of google is the best place to bury a body. YPB has claimed all sorts of customers- produced next to no revenue from deals and must be scaring the hell out of any customers who read the ASX pages...
By the way, an MIT licence is the most common form of licence on the planet
