The problem stemmed from FFX.
They walked away. And according to Malian Gov, they refused to discuss about meeting their obligations.
Even today, there are no news being released from FFX.
You can imagined how pissed off the Malian Gov would be.
We got dragged in because we were part of FFX - later demerged.
It would have been better if we were NEVER part of FFX.
The Malian Gov have been upset and they took it out on us.
Unfortunately, the bridges have been burnt. I highly doubt we could repair it at this stage. And if we hung around, they would simply NOT issue the Export Licence. That would have meant ZERO income but still costs to pay.
And over time, we would simply run out of $$$$$$$$$ and be forced to walk away with Nothing. GF won't run out of money as they are a big company and can raise via their stock exchange, but we can't raise $$$$$, as we are suspended.
Have a look at what has happened to AVZ. They wanted to fight the Gov instead of working out a deal. Now, they will be delisted and could soon run out of $$$$$$.
We are walking away with something.
That is better than a long FREEZE and then Nothing. You can't win if the Gov doesn't want you there.
And if you guys think it ONLY happens in Africa - check out what the Canadian Gov did last year.
