Technically I guess what I did would be a wash sale and likely come under part IVa. I didn't actually realise such a rule existed. But from what the rulings say it's all about the story and there is no specific time factor. When they changed the pension limits and how TTR's worked they allowed a CGT reset of assets so that the ASX wasn't inundated with wash sales. So it never occurred to me they would have a problem with it in general terms, it's just a deference of tax. I may have to rethink my strategy.
