I'm not so sure about that. The water in the pit is so toxic...to send that down the Dee River will take some treatment. Having walked over the two tanks presently engaged in treatment it really does look like a pop gun shooting an elephant.

Look Mt Morgan has been a known "environmental disaster" for decades...it's now a problem owned by the State Govt. but they have to balance a contained problem with the need to encourage the area with commercial activity. Besides if we can gradually clean up the problem created 100 years ago with the capturing of an additional 1m ozs of Au. But hey, what would I know, a retiree who caught three monster mud crabs today. so early in the season! Singapore Chilli mud crab about to commence in the wok!
