Currently as far as I know PCR generally lacks capacities for mostly susceptibility testing and broad based bacterial identification as well. So old way of culturing urine sample on a plate is still the golden standard. it'll probably, most likely to go the way of PCR in the future BUT it will take years and decades til that happens.. So like manuva above says I believe apas has a role in this space.
I initially thought they over stated their potential market. Did they say their target number of labs in the US is about 13000 labs? That seemed a lot but maybe in the US they culture even the microscopy negative urine samples? I've worked in labs that do and that don't in Australia. If they culture every snngle urine mcs sample, there might be 13000 labs that do meet their criteria.
