Well you've just highlighted an oppurtunity for MSM. If the traditional means don't work, disrupt the market and build something new.
They may not necessarily get direct $ off some musician getting signed by a record label or some frisbee thrower getting signed redbull, but what they can do is establish their brand. Overtime when you have an established brand, you'll get more performers, more fans and more $ through monetisation features.
